A tough day of park ministry

Today was our first day spent doing park ministry. We went to Kichijioji park today to do what IMB Tokyo calls park ministry. On the weekends most of the Japanese head to one of the many local parks to spend the day eating, shopping, watching small shows, or just relaxing by the lake front. So in an effort to reach them, the plan is to go where they are and sort of do what they're doing. The missionaries had warned us before we went today that park ministry is the toughest of all the ministry activities here, because there's really no structured plan for meeting people. We were told if someone even looks your way, take that as an opportunity and go talk to them or try and make something happen. Needless to say it was tough day trying to reach them as many of them are there to sort of get away from it all and don't want to be bothered by anyone. We were however able to meet a man and speak with him briefly about Christianity. He had a very pluralistic view of religion and was under the impression that whatever he believed in was right and God would save everyone in the end anyways. He didn't want to here any different and that was the end of our conversation. The girls were also able to meet with a group of Japanese girls and got a little further. We would ask that you pray for Miki, Arisa, and Satsuki. They attend a local university and are at least open to becoming friends with us. Please pray that we are able to build a stronger relationship with them and are able to share the Gospel of Christ with them.
